Humanitarian Demining Program

Goal

To free the territory of Ukraine from explosive devices.

Program Description

According to the Law of Ukraine "On Mine Action in Ukraine", demining (humanitarian demining) is a set of measures taken by mine action operators to eliminate the dangers associated with explosive devices, including non-technical and technical surveys of territories, mapping, detection, disposal and/or destruction of explosive devices, marking, preparation of post-demining documentation, providing communities with information on mine action activities and transfer of cleared territory.

According to preliminary estimates, approximately 470,000 hectares of agricultural land in nine regions of Ukraine (Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, and Cherkasy) require surveying and, if necessary, demining.

Goals and Practical Tasks in the Implementation of the Program

To conduct public awareness and education work, lectures, and seminars on the dangers of explosive devices and training on risk prevention related to explosive devices at the Charity Foundation.

To provide free psychological and psycho-medical rehabilitation for victims at the Center for Psycho-Neuro Rehabilitation "HORTITSYA" in Zaporizhzhia.

To establish a center for the selection, recruitment, and training of demining specialists at the Charity Foundation, to train them at the Interregional Center for Humanitarian Demining and Rapid Response of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine — https://mcgr.dsns.gov.ua and to train at least 100 specialists within a year!
